WUU crashes
From WUUki
[edit] WUU won't start!
A common problem reported is that WUU doesn't start, the .exe only appears for a second in task manager (or equivalent), then disappears.
Troubleshooting steps:
- Check the logs; %USERPROFILE%\WUU\WUU.log on Windows - post any error messages in the WoWAce thread, for instance
- Delete the settings files - %USERPROFILE%\WUU\settings.wurm.xml or overridesettings.wurm.xml in the WUU directory cover the preferences in WUU, while <your WoW directory>\addons.wurm.xml cover addon settings. You might have to delete one, or both of these (take backups first)
- Optionally, the entire %USERPROFILE%\WUU folder may be renamed/deleted, any extra files there will be downloaded automatically from the WUU servers
- Empty the cache of downloaded files: %TEMP%\Wurm on Windows is safe to delete
Another reported problem is with the SellFish addon - one of the versions of SellFish had a corrupt ZIP that made WUU crash, but I haven't been able to obtain it to investigate why. If you have this addon, please either delete it and let WUU reinstall it, or upgrade to the latest version manually.
Stolberg 19:41, 5 January 2009 (PST) This appears to happen when an addon has a blank TOC file.
[edit] WUU won't start with an error
On a fresh Windows XP install, you do not have the libraries to run WUU. It will complain with an error along the line of : This application is not correctly configured. Try to reinstall it.
You need to install the Visual C redistributable DLLs. As of May 2009, the latest are http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=9B2DA534-3E03-4391-8A4D-074B9F2BC1BF&displaylang=en .
